Beasy's on the Creek

A few weeks ago my husband and I went up to Medford for truck parts and decided to stay in Ashland for the night. What a cute little town it is! We stayed at the Ashland Creek Inn. The Ashland Creek Inn was beautiful. It is located right on a creek with balconies off of each room that looks over the creek. It is also located within walking distance of the downtown area where there is lots of tax free shopping and dining. We spent the day walking around town shopping and occasionally stopping in a pub for beer & glass of wine.

After shopping we walked back to our room looking for a place to eat dinner.  We decided on Beasy’s on the Creek.  It was conveniently located across from The Ashland Creek Inn.  I was shocked to see that this restaurant is listed as #34 on Tripadvisor.  This restaurant was fabulous!  It has a great romantic setting on the creek, wonderful food and perfect service.

My only complaint about about our trip, besides it being too short, was the Inn didn’t serve the included breakfast until 9am.  We had to skip breakfast because that is just too late for us.

That turned out to be a good thing because we stopped just down the freeway at the Wild Goose Cafe & Bar.   This is your typical diner looking place, nothing fancy, but the breakfast was awesome!  We are big meat eaters and when I saw the “carnivore omelet” on the menu I knew this was my kinda place.   Again, I am shocked this place is rated #35 on Tripadvisor!  We both agreed this was one of the best breakfasts we have ever had!  Makes me wonder about those reviews.

The coffee was the best coffee I have ever had in a restaurant.  They told me it was Noble Coffee, made right in Ashland!  I was almost tempted to go back downtown to buy some, but noticed I could buy it online.  As soon as I got home I ordered a sample pack.  So far we have tried the Daydream blend.  It is ridiculously good!

We had such a nice time there we planning on making Ashland one of our regular little “get away” destinations.

Where in the heck does it go? I haven’t posted in 18 months?! That’s terrible.

Red/Black Striped Leg Warmers

Back from the 80′s – Leg warmers are back in for this fall / winter!  This time around they sexier than ever and worn with heels, not sneakers.

There are lots of fun styles, colors & patterns to choose from.  There are traditional sweater type warmers to long & sexy opaque ones.  These over-the-knee  red & black striped leg warmers have a sexy snap up ankle.

Also “in” this winter is patterned tights & leggings.  An easy and inexpensive way to dress up or change the look of your favorite mini skirt.  The look is HOT and they keep you warm in the cold.

I have always loved tie dye so these Tie Dye Leggings are also one of my faves.

A monokini is a one piece bikini.  A one piece swimsuit usually has a lot of coverage, whereas a monokini has minimal coverage like a bikini.

Monokinis like this yellow one are ultra sexy, have a thong back and are often worn by exotic dancers.  They are also fun for romantic private jacuzzi / pool use.

Many monokinis offer more coverage, but are still sexy, like this black O-ring style.  From the back it looks like a regular 2 piece full back bikini, but it is really a one piece, monokini.

I like these because you can get a great tan (unlike in a one piece) and never have to worry about losing your bottoms while body surfing in the ocean!

I just got the new Fall Preview issue and could not wait to open it up to see what is going to be hot this fall. I am not happy! WTH was Victoria’s Secret thinking, or am I just really getting out of touch with fashion?

What is up with this outfit on page 22?  This looks dumpy!  Baggy jeans, baggy top and high heeled gray boots? Not sexy or even casual, this is something I would do yard work in, minus the ugly gray boots.

Check out page 31, Tapered pants (ie: Clown pants)!  These were one the the biggest fashion mistakes of the 1980′s.  Nobody looks good in these.  Big baggy pants with a tapered leg?…..YES, your ass will look big in those!

There is a whole section of dumpy clothes!  It’s like LL Bean trying to be sexy….it’s not working.

Look at this outfit on page 18.  Baggy cargo pants tapered & stuffed into knee high boots, with a shapeless drab green babydoll top, paired with a black leather aviator jacket.  This is not flattering and looks more like government issued Army clothes.   Or………when did “Grunge” come back?

Maybe I am just getting old,… I don’t know.  I usually like most of what Victoria’s Secret has.  This issue is mostly unattractive, dumpy, weird stuff.

Now, this is what I like and they happen to be on sale in this issue.  A nice pair of jeans, a white top and high heels.  You can’t go wrong with this.   It is simple, classic, comfortable & sexy.

Magic Silk Pajamas

I have always loved silk. I love the way it feels on my skin and I love the flattering way silk garments drape on my body.

For centuries silk has been regarded as the worlds most luxurious fabric.  Made from unraveling the cocoon of the Mulberry Silk worm.  Each cocoon is made from (approximately) a 1 mile long strand of a natural protein fiber which is woven to make fabric.  The triangular, light refracting structure of the fiber is what gives silk it’s shimmery lustrous appearance.

Today, natural silk had been replaced by less expensive synthetic silk.  But for me nothing is like real silk.

Many people think silk is a delicate fabric that needs to be hand washed.  Silk is one of the strongest natural fibers.  I throw my silk nighties in the washer & dryer (on the delicate cycle) and I still have beautiful looking chemises that are over 12 years old!  The shimmery silk satin garments tend to get a sand washed look to them, but a good ironing on medium high heat brings back the shine.

Note: Never use bleach on silk, bleach makes silk yellow & brittle.

TIP: To eliminate static cling in silk garments attach, a safety pin to the inside hem line of the garment or you can rub a fabric softener sheet on the garment.  Also when you wash silk add 1/8 cup of white vinegar and 1 TBS of fabric softener to the wash.

Silk lingerie is classic, beautiful, sensual and never goes out of style.  With proper care it can last forever!
